I had made the quilt after a trip to South America a few years ago. The favelas are colorful slums built into the sides of the hills and I knew I had to make a quilt of them. I blogged about them here.http://notesfromnorma.blogspot.com/2014/01/the-best-laid-plans.html
It is a small quilt, only 14" x 18"
I usually use a backing to coordinate with the front, as I did here. The front of the quilt uses all my hand dyed fabrics, but the back was a purchased fabric that looks hand dyed and looked so good with the front.
I finished all of my little box people and put them in their permanent place. I did a lot of shifting around before I was satisfied. The black background measures 14" x 24".
It is somewhat serendipitous that my Favela quilt came to light right now. Can you see the similarities?
I will be linking up with Off the Wall Friday.

now that's a compliment. Congrats on the sale!
It's so pretty and surprisingly small. It reads big.
How do you set a price Norma?
Congratulations! The box people look wonderful all together, and I do see the similarities.
I agree with Leeanna about the Brazilian slum quilt. It does read big and is fabulous! It also looks like it’s a tessalation making it even better.
I love your people so much! How nice to know how much someone appreciated your quilt remembering it after some years and wanting it. Also thank you for the comment you left on my blog. Blogger has not yet worked out all the bugs so you and everyone who commented on my post came up as a no reply blogger. AARRGGH I hope they work this out soon.
I absolutely love your quilt. Love, Love, Love. And your people are so cute. Lots of inspiration. Thanks.
That is a great compliment after so long. And those little people are great fun!
Congratulations! What exciting news! Such a neat thing to hear that they remembered your work after all these years.
