Trio

My FiberWorks challenge this year is to make three related pieces, each 12" square, to be mounted on a black background of your choice with one inch of black showing all around each piece. I had several ideas, but after working on Ravishing Red that I showed a few posts ago, I had several "take-outs" that didn't work in that piece.  I put them up on my design wall and liked them together. I only had to make one more section to make it 12". I love doing this type of piecing.

Then I went on to make two more, one in yellow and one in blue.  They are a combination of my hand-dyes and Dupioni silk. They still have to be quilted, which I hope to do this week. I am calling the piece Of Primary Concern.

Since it's Friday, I'm linking up with Off the Wall Friday.

Love the contrast of texture, solid and pieced, and range of values. I've been meaning to give sliver piecing a try. Any tricks of the trade you would like to share?

They are striking, Norma, and look fabulous next to each other. Fun!

Perfect title. The pieces are very complementary of each other, too.

It's so true, what they say about a little of a complementary colour making the whole composition pop!

I did tiny pieced insert strips years ago and stalled, not knowing what to do with them. Eventually I'll pull them out and design something, your's are inspiring. Be careful with black fabrics...LeeAnna
