After spending two nights in Traverse City we drove through the charming towns of Charlebois and Petoskey. Charlebois had a strip about a foot wide planted with pink, red and purple petunias that ran next to the road all through the town. It was amazingly long. I didn't get a picture because we were driving, but now I wish we had stopped to take one. We did have lunch in town where the sidewalks began, but there was no strip next to the road because of the sidewalks. Instead there were huge hanging baskets. The town was right on the lake with a beautiful marina.
We stayed just one night at the Inn at Bay Harbor, but wished we had another night there. The hotel was one of the big old gracious grand hotels with great views of the lake. The rooms were lovely and spacious and there was a choice of restaurants. The breakfast buffet was one of the best I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot on all my travels.

Looking at the back of the hotel, which faces the lake. |

We chose the restaurant that had outdoor dining so we could take advantage of the beautiful weather and the view. |

We were treated to this beautiful sunset before we left the patio. |

Looks like a fabulous trip. I've never been to that area, it may have to go on the bucket list.
