However, molas could be bought in many places. I bought this one in the hotel gift shop. Usually shirts with molas had that thick knit neckline that men's t-shirts have, not my favorite. I was so pleased to find this one with a nice neckline and beautiful mola work. The shop only had three shirts, but this was the biggest. They must have been children's shirts, since this is an extra, extra large and I usually take a size 8. The one I really wanted was white with different shades of blue for the mola, but it was tiny and I thought this orange one had a nice tropical feel. I wore it twice on the trip and received many compliments.
This cute little pouch with a zipper was bought at another gift shop. It's about 6 inches square. Notice the recurring parrot theme.
Two friends asked me to buy molas. One day we went to a little open air shop with several stalls, each manned by the native artist who had made them. We only had twenty minutes to shop, not nearly enough time with so many choices to make.The workmanship was exquisite with tiny, tiny stitches. If you looked around the edges, you could see the three fabrics used for the reverse applique technique. The other colors were appliqued on top or embroidered.

These Molas are beautiful. I once saw a tunic made out of these and I drooled.
I spent a week living with the Kuna Indians. Have loved molas every since. If you ever get a chance to to go back you would enjoy visiting them.
