Worth the Wait

I am very fond of day lilies and think they are nearly the perfect perennial. They are very tolerant of any kind of soil, they spread into nice clumps, they are never bothered by disease or insects. The only bad thing about them is that they are deer candy, so I spray and spray to keep them away.

Last fall I ordered some new plants and had to wait patiently for them bloom this summer.

I'm still waiting for a couple of the late bloomers, but I love what has come up so far.

Wow! These are beautiful! And so varied! I've never grown day lilies, but I've seen a bunch popping up on people's blogs lately. There are such cool textures in there, maybe I should plant some. As ever, I wonder if I could keep them alive, but I had no idea there were so many different looks!

I love day lilies and yours are fabulous. The only thing I dislike is the leaves dying and turning yellow. In our hot St. Louis weather, I'm always cleaning out those yellow leaves. But I do love the blooms.

Wow, those are gorgeous! Mine are all pretty ordinary, but they survive the dry heat quite well.

Beautiful! So glad that deer decided to leave them alone!

Your day lilies are beautiful. I've heard just recently that human hair keep deer away from plants, I wonder if your hairdresser would save some for you!
