Arizona Sunsets

You have seen this quilt top before that I made quite awhile ago, but I finally got it quilted and bound. I was waiting for the dealer to come to my house and straighten out the problems I was having with my Sweet Sixteen. My problems are mostly resolved and when it's working properly it is a dream. I can just quilt away in a zen-like state, enjoying all that extra room between the needle and the machine. But it is still somewhat temperamental and still doesn't like the Rainbow Superior that I like to use. Superior has come out with a new thread that is supposed to be better, but with the same variegated feature I like. I will have to give it a try.

It measures 44inches square and it's all made from one striated batik fabric.

I quilted it very simply , just following the striations in the fabric and quilting pebbles in the circles.

For the back I pieced together some ice-dyed fabrics that I thought coordinated with the front.

I'm linking up with Off the Wall Friday.

I have a Babylock Tiara which is the same as the Sweet 16, and know what you mean about being temperamental with certain threads. My best experience has been with Floriani 40 wt poly that my LQS carries and Superior Bottom Line or Aurifil 50 wt in the bobbin. It's a great machine, though, and has made my quilting life so much easier. Your quilt is beautiful, as usual!

I like how the fabric can make a simple quilt can look so wonderful. I have several threads that my machine gets touchy about and they are the ones that I love.

I love your unique quilt and the quilting your sweet 16 did is perfect for the quilt. Simple but effective!

Lovely quilt Norma. I also have a Sweet16 and use all kind of threads without any problems. My solution? *pre-wound bobbins*. :)

I'm going to agree with Margarita. I have a Pfaff powerquilter, which is also just a sweet 16 with the pfaff logo on it. One day I splurged and bought some Magnaglide bobbins in several colors, white, ecru, gold, pale green, and black. They come in little containers with 12 (not sure of the number). I had to take out the little metal thingie in the bobbin case for the magnetic bobbins to work. They are fantastic! Never have tension problems anymore!! You have to try them. Go to Filtec.com. Or ask at a show for one to test, they gave me a free bobbin at Houston Festival.
