Quilted!

This is the quilt that I showed you last Friday that I am making for a FANE exhibit in the fall.  I quilted it this week and did a combination of "corduroy" quilting using both the walking food and free-motion and free-motion squarish meandering.  I didn't think my usual curvy free-motion would look on this quilt.  As I said last week, the red was quite difficult to photograph.  When I tried to get close ups of the meandering, most of it just disappeared in the camera.

These circles are in the Dupioni silk and I used both sides of the fabric, each giving a different look.  I free motion quilted around the circles then did straight-line FM quilting around them. It made the circles pop and I wasn't sure if I liked the effect, but my FANE group last night and my FiberWorks group today both said that they liked it so I will keep them that way.

Squarish meandering on the middle section and walking foot straight line on the left.

Free motion straight line quilting

The other side of that Dupioni with the circles, and some squarish meandering on the orange.

Now all I have to do is face it and then I'm on to my next project.  Its name is "Ravishing Red", a good friend of "Radically Red" that I did a couple of years ago.

I'm linking up, as usual, with Off the Wall Friday so go see what some other talented artists are up to.

oh yes. Definitely like. Like lots! Red is a booger to photograph isn't it? Why?
This vibrates. I get a lot of energy from red and red mixes like coral. Good show!

Racey reds! The turquoise really sets it off. Would love to see in person as the photos aren't showing the texture. LeeAnna is right about reds being hard to photograph

Love how you quilted it.

Gorgeous red! Love it. And an interesting mix of quilting techniques - adds nice dimension to it.
