It really makes a statement in the room. The paint is very gloppy; I'm assuming it was put on with a palette knife and I can still smell the paint if I put my nose to it.
The accessories that are also on the mantle are ones that I used with the Van Gogh, but now they seemed too small so I had to elevate them with acrylic risers.
Everything now on the mantle is hand made. You remember this little bird that I showed a couple of posts ago. The balls above are also hand made, as is the beautiful vase on the left of the painting, given to me by my son a couple of Christmases ago.
I'm hoping to get some sewing done this week and will post my results if I do. I'm just finding it hard to get going.

just beautiful. To get to see this vignette every day must enthuse you to go to the studio. I love Sanibel. I used to go there a lot as a young 20-something when it was very sleepy and quiet and a person just peaced out on the beach. The painting is like your work.
I have a silk painting friend who sells in a gallery in Sanibel too.

That is a beautiful picture Norma - even seen from a little photo. The layout/design is wonderful and the colours gorgeous. It is so great to see a picture and fall in love with it - and I'm glad it found a place with your bird and other loved objects.
P.S. - do you know who the artist is? I thought I would look up what else they had painted.
Lovely picture, I can understand why you had to have it and I'm sure it will give you years of pleasure, so we'll worth the money I'm sure!
Oh Norma, it's perfect!!
