On TV

I received this email last night:

Good evening, Norma –
I want to let you know that two of your suns will be shown on tomorrow’s “Sunday Morning” broadcast.  The first will appear out of a piece that Martha Teichner is doing on the “My Pillow” product, and the second is at the end of a Richard Schlesinger piece about pets and marketing.
They both look great.  Thanks again.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

CBS Sunday Morning

So exciting after waiting all this time. I emailed friends and relatives and then this morning I received this email:

Hi again, Norma –

Half of an apology is in order, because our editor finished the “My Pillow” segment late last night and instead of putting a sun at the end of it, he put a fact bumper.  Sometimes those decisions are made very late into the night, and have nothing to do with the suns themselves.  Your day/night sun worked beautifully there, but the executive producer chose to include the fact graphic instead to enhance the content of the broadcast.

The good news is that your other beautiful sun WILL be on, at the end of the Richard Schlesinger piece on pets, and it looks fabulous!

I know that I will be using your beautiful contributions often, and I thank you again for sharing them.

All the best,
Jessica

I watched the show with camera in hand and this was what was on after the pet piece. I was wondering why they chose this particular one and didn't see how it related to the segment. It was one where I had to use a grid. I painted and stenciled instead of my usual stitching. This is how it looked on the TV screen:

As  you can see it was cropped to fit the screen and they added another row of suns on the left.

This is the photo that I had sent them. But, hey, I'm not complaining!  As one friend said, I was on national television and I am happy about that. I was encouraged by her statements that they planned to use some of mine again (I sent them 9 suns) and I was very appreciative of her taking time out of what must be a very busy schedule to keep me informed.

It's a great show and if you have never seen it, tune in. It's on every Sunday morning on CBS,
9-10:30 AM here in the east. Check your local listings for times in a different zone.

I will be linking up with Off The Wall Friday. Please go check it out and leave some comments. We all love comments

Isn't it fun? Even though they don't give credit to the artist (and they really should), it's a delight to see one's art on that show. Maybe you can break a record for the number of your suns that will be broadcast.

I just love CBS Sunday Morning and watch it every week. It comes on here at 8 a.m., and our choir rehearsal is at 8:30, so I only get the first part and often find it online to see the rest. But I DID see the My Pillow segment and was impressed with the guy's story and have ordered my pillows. Congratulations on your sun images being used; I often wonder where they get such variety. Of course, quilters and other creative people send them in!
