First Communion
I drove out to Long Island yesterday and back today for my twin great niece and nephew's First Communion. They are just the cutest little kids.....he's very masculine with a deep voice that he's had since he started to talk and she is such a girlie girl. I had a lovely visit with all of my late husband's extended family. I wish they all didn't live so far away. The trips there and back were horrendous, with huge traffic delays each way due to big accidents. Of course I was glad that I was not involved in ether one, but that sitting in traffic is the pits! My GPS was very helpful in finding alternate routes to my destination.

Japanese Garden
One of the many things that we did on my visit to Portland, OR was visit the Japanese Gardens. I had been there before, but that was in November. It was beautiful then, but now with the azaleas and rhododendrons blooming, it was even more spectacular. I thought it was just as lovely as any garden I had seen it Japan. Everywhere you looked was a photo-op and I took a lot of pictures. I will spare you and only show a few, but it was hard to pick. If you go to their website, you can see more magnificent pictures. Be sure to look at it in the different seasons. Winter is breathtaking! Please remember to click on each picture for a larger view.

Wildflowers
I've visited my son many times in the five years that he's lived there, but have never been at this time of the year. He specifically wanted me to come to see the wildflowers in the Columbia River Gorge. We had a lovely long weekend with beautiful weather and the wild flowers did not disappoint. I would love to interpret this in fabric and thread, as I did for my Poppies quilt.
Or perhaps this one with Mt. Hood in the background.
